The FARM Institute, located on Martha’s Vineyard, is a working farm and an educational center managed by The Trustees. It spans 162 acres of diverse landscape, including pastures, woodlands, and wetlands. The institute focuses on sustainable agriculture, raising livestock such as cattle, sheep, and chickens, and growing a variety of vegetables and fruits.
As part of its educational mission, The FARM Institute offers programs and events throughout the year for people of all ages. These include farm tours, animal encounters, seasonal festivals, and summer camps for children. The goal is to connect people with the source of their food and teach them about farming practices and the importance of local agriculture.
A key offering at The FARM Institute is its cooking classes. These classes emphasize using fresh, seasonal ingredients harvested directly from the farm. Participants engage in hands-on cooking experiences, learning techniques to transform farm-fresh produce and other local products into meals. Classes are available for both adults and children, providing a direct link between farming and cooking.
