These Dubai chocolate bonbons are a fun, bite-sized take on the viral chocolate bar sweeping social media!
The original Dubai chocolate bars, created by Fix Dessert Chocolatier, are hard to miss online these days.
They consist of a dark chocolate shell that contains an oozing filling made from pistachio paste, tahini, and shredded, toasted kataifi pastry.
Their official name is “Can’t Get Knafeh of It.”
Outside of Dubai, these chocolate bars can be difficult and expensive to get hold of, so we’ve decided to create a recipe to make them achievable at home.
In our version, we’ve made them bite-sized, so you don’t need to go out and buy a chocolate mold to experience this delectable treat for yourself.
We’ve also added a little sea salt on top to bring out all these incredible flavors.

Dubai Chocolate Bonbons with Sea Salt
Ingredients
- 10 oz dark chocolate (high-quality, 70% cocoa)
- ½ cup pistachio paste
- 1 cup kataifi pastry, shredded
- 1 tbsp tahini
- 2 tbsp honey
- ½ tsp sea salt flakes (for sprinkling)
- Edible gold leaf (optional, for decoration)
Instructions
Ingredients
Step 1- Prepare the Filling
- Toast the kataifi pastry in a dry pan over medium heat until golden brown and crunchy.
- In a bowl, mix pistachio paste, tahini, honey, and the toasted kataifi until well combined. Chill this mixture for about 20 minutes to firm up.
Step 2- Shape into Bonbon Centers
- Once the filling is firm, scoop out small amounts (about 1 teaspoon) and roll them into small balls. Place them on a parchment-lined tray and freeze for 10 minutes to set.
Step 3- Coat with Chocolate
- Melt the dark chocolate in a double boiler or microwave in short bursts. Dip each chilled pistachio ball into the melted chocolate, ensuring it's fully coated. Let any excess drip off and place back on the tray.
Step 4- Finish with Sea Salt and Decoration
- Before the chocolate sets, sprinkle each bonbon lightly with sea salt flakes for a delicious salty crunch. For a luxurious touch, add edible gold leaf to the top of each bonbon.
- Allow the bonbons to fully set in the fridge for about 30 minutes.
